PUMPKIN PATTERN ACTIVITIES

PARTY FAVORS
Using the small pattern, cut a small pumpkin shape for each child.
Slightly, fold the pumpkins in half and make two small slits across the middle of the pumpkins.
Slide a straw in and out of the slits for a festive straw to use for party drinks.

PUMPKIN STICK PUPPET
Using the medium pattern, cut a pumpkin out of orange poster board for your child.
Give her crayons or markers to use for creating a face on her pumpkin.
Help her to attach a craft stick to the back of the pumpkin with tape to create a handle.
Encourage her to use the puppet when singing pumpkin songs or telling pumpkin stories.

FACE MATCH-UPS
Using the small pattern, cut 12 pumpkins out of orange paper.
Take six of the pumpkins and draw a different face on each one.
Then, take the remaining pumpkins and make a matching face for each of the first set of pumpkins. You should end up with six matching pairs of pumpkin faces.
Mix up the pumpkins and let your child find the matching pairs of faces.

PAINTING PUMPKIN
Using the large pattern, cut a large pumpkin shape out of white paper for your child.
Give him some orange paint and a small sponge piece and let him dob paint onto the pumpkin.
When the paint dries on the pumpkin, let him create a face on his pumpkin if he wants with a black marking pen.

NOTE: Ink dobbers also work great for this activity.

PUMPKIN PUZZLE
Using the large pattern, cut a pumpkin shape out of orange poster board.
Then, cut the pumpkin shape into 4 - 8 pieces.
Give the pieces to your child and have her try to fit the pieces back into a pumpkin.
NOTE: Cut the pumpkin into 2-4 pieces for beginners and 6-8 pieces for more advanced puzzle makers.

FELT BOARD, NUMBER RHYME
Using the small pattern, make four pumpkins out of orange felt.
Place them on a green felt board.
Recite the following rhyme, placing different names in the blanks.

FOUR LITTLE PUMPKINS

Four little pumpkins
I can see.
______picked one
That left three.

Three little pumpkins
With nothing to do.
______ picked one
And that left two.

Two little pumpkins
Out in the sun.
______ picked one
And that left one.

One little pumpkin
All alone.
It looked lonely
So I took it home.
