| HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS |
CHAINS –Make 1” x 5” strips of orange and black paper. Help your child, tape or glue the strips into rings alternating the two colors. Hang the chains around your home. |
PUMPKIN FACES – Give your child large orange pumpkin cutouts and some black marking pens. Encourage her to draw faces on the pumpkins with the markers. Tape the pumpkins to windows, with the faces facing out, for passersby to see. |
FRIENDLY GHOST MOBIL – Have your child tear freeform ghost shapes out of white paper and then draw on eyes with a black marker or crayon. Suspend the ghosts with thread from a coat hanger and watch them float and flutter in the air.
PUMPKIN FRAME MASK
This is a safe mask for young children because it does not cover their entire faces.
Cut the center out of a paper plate |
Give your child the plate rim to paint orange for a pumpkin frame. |
On the back of the frame, tape a plastic straw “handle”. |
Show your child how to hold up the frame mask and make “jack-o’lantern” faces through the hole. |

HALLOWEEN PUZZLE
Find a children’s greeting card (one made of stiff paper works well). |
Cut off the front of the card and discard the back. |
Then cut the card front into four or five puzzle pieces. |
Give the pieces to your child and have her put the pieces back together. |
HALLOWEEN STICKER GAME
Collect two sets of matching Halloween stickers, making sure each pair is different. |
Attach one set down the left-hand side of a piece of paper. |
Attach the other set down the right-hand side of the paper in a mixed up order. |
Give the paper to your child and have him draw lines between each matching set of stickers. |
| Varitation: For a game that can be played more than once, put the paper inside a clear-plastic report cover. Your child can draw lines on the plastic with a crayon, then use a tissue to erase them. |

COSTUME WORD FUN
Sit with your child in front of a mirror and invite her to try on a few Halloween masks. Ask her to describe what she looks like wearing each one. Or you try on the masks while she describes what you look like. |
Provide a box of dress-up clothes and encourage your child to create different costumes. When he looks in the mirror, what does he see? |
| |
HALLOWEEN POSITION WORDS

I’M A LITTLE GHOST
Tune: “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”
I’m a little ghost
Flying through the air.
Boo, boo, boo to you!
Did I give you a scare?
Elizabeth Scofield
(Continue with additional verses, such as; I’m a little bat or I’m a little owl.)

THREE HALLOWEEN CATS
Tune: “Three Blind Mice”
Three Halloween cats,
Three Halloween cats,
See how they run,
See how they scat.
They run loose all over town.
They cause a mess and knock things down.
They better watch out or they’ll be in the pound.
Three Halloween cats.
